The goal of records management training is to ensure valuable use of data information and intelligence reports to inform organizational operations. This completely relies on incoming and outgoing documents within an organizational structure. Control of documents and information records is paramount in advising and historical facts, current status and future predictions. Document management assists in making instant and strategic decisions. Hence the all staff need proper training in document management.

Records management training

The Records Management Training Division trains all staff handling records in the organization. The target group will include: Records Management Officers, Clerical Officers working in the Records Management section, Office Administrators/Secretaries. This is informed by numerous concerns being raised by our users on the way in which information is being handled in organizations and an observation that most of the staff handling records do not clearly understand Records Management, Policy, Systems and Procedures. Added to this, the officers responsible for records management activities have had no basic practical training (hands on approach) in records surveys, records appraisal, preparation and review of records classification and indexing schemes, records retention disposal schedules and reorganization of registries. The proposed training will be therefore two pronged: to address the issues of policy, systems, procedures and practices, and to address the issue of capacity building. The aim is to streamline records creation, maintenance, use and disposal and at the same time empower our staff so that they are able to fully take control of records management activities at organizations. Towards this end, we prepared a training program,( Manual) which takes into consideration the needs of organizations.
